YOU
CAN'T
SUCCEED
WITHOUT A GOAL.
-----------------------------------------------
The
indispensable
first
step
to
getting the things you
want out of life is this:
decide
what you want.
You
must first establish
your objectives
if
you are to accomplish
anything in a big way.
Goals
give you a starting
place and a destination.
People
with goals succeed
because they know where they're
going.
Determine
what you want.
Decide
on your major
objectives, targets, aims, and
destination.
If
you don't know where
you're going,
how
can you expect to get
there?
Goals
are dreams that are
written down.
Plant
your dreams, nourish
and begin to live them.
The
most important thing
about a goal is having one.

Corporate
Culture

Your
corporate culture is
not born in a
test tube. While you may not have spent
much time thinking about it,
your organization has one.
Organizational
cultures
begin as soon
as there are two people working together
and they establish a method
for communicating the day-to-day and long
term needs of their
enterprise. Most often, this culture is
driven by the personality of
the founder/president and bought into by
other members of the
organization as they come aboard. This
intangible element of an
organization is the cause of more firings
and resignations than
performance, theft, and other stated
causes combined
As
entrepreneurs/managers/leaders, we
unwittingly perpetuate this culture on a
consistent basis. Entering
a high energy shop, one will find people
scurrying around constantly
“busy” at some task. There is a high
probability that the leader
of this group is a high energy individual.
Conversely, the laid back
company is most likely led by a calm,
highly tolerant individual who
doesn’t easily get his or her feathers
ruffled.

Creating
a
Winning
Environment
by Dr.
John C. Maxwell
The
environment
has taken center stage recently in the
American media.
Going "green" has become trendy among
everyone from
Hollywood elites to suburbanites. Corporate
America is experiencing
pressure from environmentally savvy
consumers who are flocking en
masse to socially responsible companies.
Perhaps
"environment"
should
be
the
word at the center of
leadership conversations as well.
Consciously or unconsciously,
leaders cultivate the environment in their
workplaces. Some are lush
climates where leaders flourish and thrive,
while others are toxic
environments where leaders either leave or
wither from the pollution.
Here are five questions about the
environment you're creating as a
leader that will help you nurture a winning
environment in your
organization.
1.
"Do
I understand what it takes to be a
team?"
Without
effective teamwork, an environment is doomed
to fail. A collection of
individual contributions will never compare
to the synergy of a
cohesive team. A successful team displays:
Tolerance
of
one
another's
weaknesses.
Encouragement
of
each
other's
efforts.
Acknowledgement
that
every
person
has
something to offer.
Mindfulness
of
how
each
person
depends on the others for success.
more.
